Week 14 : Wrap up ; social networks and catch up

I have to say that participating in this course was a great learning experience.
I was amazed at how much I learned about using new technologies on the web.
Social networks facilitated by the Library would allow clients exchange knowledge and experience in specific subject areas.Online feedbacks from clients will help to improve our services or to inroduce new ideas.
Thanks to Ellen and Mylee for guiding us through the course.

Week 13 : Online applications and tools

The best things about using online applications are:they are free, people can collaborate with others online.
Sharing our documents, presentations and projects with our collegues as a part of our everyday's life using online tools is great idea.
I have created a document in GoogleDosc and share it with slnsw2.0@gmail.com

Week 12: Mashups

After few attempts I was able to bring a mashup to my post.
I thing we may use mashups in displays and information at the State Library. Visual impact may play important role in drawing client's awareness about our collections.

Week 11: Podcasts and audio

Today I found one of the best inventions in recent time "Podcasts"
There are like online video or radio and you can watch them or listen the files.I like ABC podcasts, they offered very interesting subjects. You can have RSS for new updates in case there are interesting for you.
I think it is very good idea using podcasts in the library services.
Our library organised many interesting talks, exhibitions etc. , which are worth to broadcasting and advertising them to the clients.
We may inform them about our unique collection using podcasts.

Week 10 : Answer boards and social searching

Visiting the Answer Board Librarians wiki I found many interesting questions. When I viewed Exemplary Answers section I found answers are well rated.
I think answers boards can be very useful teaching tool in our reference library.
I posted on Yahoo!7 Questions. I hope I will soon get an answer.

Week 8: Del.ico.us Technorati Library Thing

This week I have learn about Deli.cio.us, Technorati and Library Thing. I have signed up for an account in Deli.cio.us and added few bookmarks on it. I found it is very useful way of tagging items of interest for both personal and work related.

Technorati was founded to help bloggers succeed by collecting, highlighting, and distributing the global online conversation.
I explored Technorati. I searched for "bookmobile" and found 1065 entries and 1107 in advanced search. Search for "state library of nsw" give me 323 results.
Library Thing - it is great to know how to create your own online catalogue and share it with others.
